We are currently on Telstra Cable for our Internet, and getting 100Mbps download, which is what we want and need for our household.
We've just been told that the NBN is coming to our area early next year, and that we will be forced to go onto the slower copper FTTN NBN system. We've been advised that where we live, we'll get a maximum of around 80 Mbps at the best of times, likely much slower in peak times.
We would much prefer to stay on Telstra Cable, which is very fast and reliable (I'm told that the NBN copper network is also very prone to constant dropouts).
Why can't we just stay on our Telstra Cable service? It seems ridiculous and somewhat Big Brother-ish for the Government to tell us we have to move to the NBN, when our Cable service is still perfectly functional, and the same cable will still continue to deliver our Foxtel service!
Is anyone protesting this change to Government? What can we do to stop it?
