So we are halfway through our Telstra Cable contract when NBN becomes available in our area, so we upgrade to a Bigpond NBN connection. Modem gets sent out – it's a "Telstra Gateway" (Sagecomm F@ST 5355).
This is really confusing... Telstra previously sent us the Telstra Gateway Max for our cable connection – it had 4 ethernet ports that were all gigabit. This new Telstra Gateway router has 2 ethernet ports and they aren't gigabit!
I called the Bigpond NBN team to complain and they said that this "Telstra Gateway" (Sagecomm F@ST 5355) is the *only* modem that they supply that works with NBN over HFC.
Is this true? Can anyone else confirm this? That is absolute rubbish – not supplying a gigabit ethernet router in 2016?
