Been a long time Telstra customer. Been on NBN (FTTP) for 15 months with no complaints. On the 30th of March my NBN service went down, came back after a few hours and all seemed normal. The next morning I noticed Web pages were taking a lot longer to load so checked my speed and to my dismay found that my Download speed had dropped to only 250kb/s instead of the normal average of about 11Mb/s. Upload speed has not been affected at all. Checked speed again at 1am and all was back to normal. Today same thing has happened so instead of getting 100/40 I'm only getting 3/30. Understand you are never going to get the 100/40 figure and speeds drop off during peck hours but I was always getting at least 80/30 at the worst before the 30 of march. I have tried all the Trouble-shooting Methods :
- Turning Modem and NBN box off waited 3 minutes before turning back on
- Resetting Modem
- Turning all other devices/computers off
- Plugging Ethernet cable straight into NBN box
- No other programs running in the background
- Have not gone over monthly allowance of Data
Nothing has made a difference to the Download speed. It is barely usable as is. Can't understand why there is such a big difference all of a sudden during the day.
9.00 PM 1/5/2017
12.30 AM 2/5/2017
so as you can see by the two speed tests above the the difference in line speed is dramatic.
Just wondering if anyone had any ideas why there would be such drop in speed in just three days.
Will ring 1800Tfibre number on Monday to see if they can help.
