hi, im currently a customer of Optus and their NBN service is absolutly terrible! Terrible isnt the best way to explain how bad it is, its a scam, paying 115$/month for a 100mbps down and 40mbps up connection, to not even break ADSL speeds (1 - 5mbps download on average) unless its like 4am. basically, the only time you can utilize your connection is 4am - 6:30am, after that.. speeds go right down to a halt..
Heres an average speedtest:

Im an I.T Student, so i need to download server images so i can study what was learnt that same day, the thing is, these files arent youtube videos, they can range from 3gb - 13gb.. and im being disadvantaged due to the fact that i fell for this "Welcome to the future" scam.. its been like this for 4 months, and im fed up.. im sick of paying excessive 4G over usage charges, because optus cannot provide what the spam ads all over my area, "lightning fast" blah blah.. lightning fast for optus ceo's.
Anyways, im desperate right now so i need an ISP that will actually provide whats on paper, and no "hidden bull shizzles in the fine print, allowing them to escape the fraud laws..
Being an ex telstra customer, i can really see the difference now.. optus is a budget.. cut corner type ISP shady.. scammy.. whatever you want to call them, while telstra is the premium.. get the problem fixed next day company, Seriously though, how does a company get away with sucking 4months of money without providing a 1/10th of the figures seen on their page.. it blows me away..
Im not too sure how NBN is with telstra, but their cable service was stable, never had an issue at all with it, so im applying the same thought to telstra's nbn (Stable and reliable).
If someone who lives in the Liverpool (Sydney) region, who has the Telstra NBN service, can let me know if its worth the hassle or not to arrange ISP changes..
Also, as a side question, is it true that telstra has better routing than optus? For example.. i did a tracert to an american server and saw that Optus basically goes around australia.. (Takes the bloody scenic route around australia, then through singapore, then to the states) Looking at the international pipe maps, telstra owns.. or atleast i think they own a pipe that basically goes from sydney to the states, which im only going to assume that this will help with latency issues to the states? im not too sure.. (im also a gamer, so lower latency is key)
Sorry if this seems chopped together, the only times i can use this bloody internet is 4am, otherwise it cuts out, fails and sends a whole team of monkeys to destroy my router..
Cheers..
