Ongoing NBN Issues in West Wallsend

We've been in the NBN since about March this year. We've had a great, reliable connection with a steady 50Mbps down. However, a little over a week ago things went downhill really quickly. We went from 50Mbps, down to less than 10Mbps and it has stayed that way consistently ever since. Not only this, but for the same time period we've had constant dropouts, at least a dozen times per day, mainly during he middle of the day.

This Friday, things got even worse. The speed dropped right down to under 5Mbps and the dropouts started occurring right throughout the day and into the night. I called Telstra support and, after half an hour of test, I was told there were no faults or issues, but that there is an NBN congestion issue in West Wallsend and that's what's causing the problems. He said Telstra have applied to buy more bandwidth from NBN Co, but have no ETA. He recommended I contact sales to drop my speed down to a lower tier so I'm not wasting money over the next few months until it's resolved. But until then there's nothing else he can do.

Today, however, things have gotten worse. The dropouts have been happening every fifteen minutes and for the last four hours we've not been able to establish a connection at all. I called support again but was told the systems used for line tests and things were down for maintenance for the next few hours and that is get a call back tomorrow.

What on earth is going on!? I'm beyond the point of frustrated right now. We've had perfect and fast service for months. But the last week has been an absolute joke! The guy can't be serious when he says this could be a few months until it's resolved. Months!? My current service is a joke. I can't maintain a stable connection for more than a few minutes and the speed is awful! I can't imagine trying to deal with this for a few more days, let alone months. Who do I have to talk to to get this sorted out properly? I want a stable connection and back on my 50Mbps connection speed sometime over the next few days. Not months!
